 Clutch Question
I have a 1958 TR650 and I have always had problems with adjusting the clutch. I have very lttle play in the adjuster arm and the clutch push rod. After riding for short distance and pulling up to a light with the bike in gear it wants to creep to the point that it will stall. Any ideas? also any custom clutch assy for this type of pre-unit?
Thanks Mike

Sorry, I havent checked the board for a couple of days, due to the weather .It seems like I have been doing nothing but pushing snow ( thank God for John Deere 4wd tractors). The first thing that comes to mind would be that possibly the pushrod is worn and you are not getting enough release. The rod should measure 12.25". If it is shorter, it has most likely have been run too tight, and as a result has worn down to the point where it cannot possibly provide enough release. Let me know what you find

 Clutch Issue
Thanks Gary,
I know what you mean about snow, we too are buried with the stuff. As for the push rod I will check the measurement, I had replaced it not to long ago, I don't ride it very much more of a custom collector bike. My Harley gets all the time.

 Clutch Problem
Gary,
I check the length and it is 12.25" on the push rod for the clutch rod. Could the cable be streched. Thanks Mike

Cable stretch is probably the next place to look. One thing that is often overlooked on customs, is if H-D levers are installed, it is VERY common for the clutch to act the way you describe. Easy fix- just put the right lever on if that is the case.
